The Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology has launched WITEC, a research group developing the world's first wearable ultrasound imaging system for continuous cardiovascular monitoring. The multi-year project aims to enable 48-hour intermittent imaging for chronic disease management, shifting care from hospitals to homes. The initiative brings together researchers from MIT, NTU Singapore, and NUS, equipped with Southeast Asia's first sub-micrometer 3D printer and advanced ultrasonic imaging systems. Clinical trials at Tan Tock Seng Hospital are expected to begin this year to validate long-term heart monitoring for chronic cardiovascular disease patients.
