Skills Night SF was a developer event celebrating skills.sh, Vercel's open ecosystem for distributing context to AI coding agents. What started as Shu Ding documenting React knowledge over a weekend has grown to 62,000 community-created skills and 2 million CLI installs. The event highlighted security partnerships with Socket, Gen, and Snyk to audit all skills for malicious content, and featured demos showing how skills close the training cutoff gap for newer APIs, enable agents to drive full-stack native iOS development (including auto-fixing crashes in Expo Go), and are becoming infrastructure—with Mintlify auto-generating skills for every docs site it hosts. The core thesis: getting the right context into agents matters more than the delivery medium, and skills are the fastest way to distribute that context at scale.
