Please look at silverbullet.md, a browser based, MIT licensed markdown notes editor that seems very in line with my personal tastes. It would be up there in the A tier.

I’ve messed with Kakoune a bit and think I’ll make a follow up about taking notes in kak (and Helix) since there were some challenges and considerations. Emacs is the best all around for notes but can be slow, Neovim is the fastest and best supported, Kakoune has interesting consistent bindings and minimalist philosophy, and Helix is snappy and kak-ish but wordier and not extensible. I could just pick one and stick with it but why not overanalyze all of them more??

This was the sole reason why I started using vim as my text editor. Simple and easy. Yes, I see why emacs is loved, but I don’t want to run EmacsOS just so I could use their text editor. Vim just works

I am a daily user of neovim for programming, but I think ObsidianMD is the best alternative for note taking

I think notion is good for me. I will make my own django based platform for notes once I get tired from it.
Besides, I also use Joplin for taking notes to keep my day-job notes and logs and legacy codes.
I agree with the point that you are going to waste your time with many fancy options like obsidian. I have been there, all I did was installed this plugin and that theme never able to focus on anything cause with every theme I installed I find something is missing or something should not be here. Lol. It was tiresome. Btw thanks for letting me know about QOwnNotes.
