An analysis of 500 Show HN landing pages reveals that AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code have tripled submissions while producing a homogeneous 'vibe-coded' aesthetic. The author catalogues 15 detectable AI design patterns across fonts (Inter, Space Grotesk), colors (purple gradients, dark mode), layout quirks (centered heroes, feature card grids), and CSS patterns (shadcn/ui, glassmorphism). Using Playwright and deterministic DOM/CSS checks, 21% of sites scored as 'heavy slop' (5+ patterns), 46% as mild, and 33% as clean. The author concludes this is uninspired but not harmful, drawing parallels to the Bootstrap era, and wonders whether design will matter once AI agents become the primary web users.
