Shopify's Shop Minis platform received significant updates for March-April 2026. Key additions include optional consent — users can now decline scopes without being blocked, with three new hooks (useCheckScopesConsent, useRequestScopesConsent, useCheckPermissions) enabling graceful degradation. A new Intents system lets the Shop app launch Minis from contextually relevant moments like product pages, currently supporting virtual try-on and AR room-placement use cases. Async storage is now capped at 10 keys per Mini and 1 MB per key. Product hooks expose availableForSale on variants for out-of-stock handling. localStorage and sessionStorage are deprecated in favor of the SDK's async storage APIs. The SDK is now built against TypeScript 6, and the CLI gains pnpm support.
