Expo SDK 55 introduces bundle diffing in EAS Update, allowing devices to download binary patches instead of full bundles when receiving over-the-air updates. Using the bsdiff algorithm, patches reduce download sizes by approximately 75% — a typical 3MB update could shrink to ~0.75MB. The feature is opt-in and in beta, enabled via a single config flag (`enableBsdiffPatchSupport: true`). Current limitations include no support for embedded bundles as a base, patches only precomputed against the second-newest update, and a brief delay after publishing before patches are available.
