Shinji Mikami, known for Resident Evil and founding Tango Gameworks, has established a new AAA studio called Unbound. Founded in 2022 and operational since 2023, the fully independent studio currently has around 50 staff with plans to grow to 150. Unbound is developing original IP for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, aiming for 'AAA quality and AA content.' Longtime Mikami collaborator Masato Kimura is also on board. This is one of two studios Mikami has been linked to since leaving Tango Gameworks in 2023, the other being Kamuy, formed in 2024.
