Self-Hosting Guide to Alternatives: Notion

I’ve been using SiYuan and Obsidian for a while, and they both excel in their own ways for note-taking and knowledge management.

I like Notion, but I don’t use it as much as I thought I would. I’ve ended up moving away from the “all-in-one” model of Notion and fragmenting into smaller apps. For note taking and knowledge management, I’ve been really happy with a local install of DokuWiki. Not as “feature rich”, sure, but I like the more connected feel of a wiki where everything is hyperlinked to everything.

Been using Anytype since they’re on a closed alpha and it’s been a very fast, minimal in the UI, yet feature rich alternative to Notion. Plus you can use it offline with its Desktop and Mobile apps!
