The study finds growing curiosity about AI's criminal applications — both through misuse of legitimate tools and development of bespoke criminal models — alongside doubts about AI's effectiveness and concerns about its impact on operational security and business models. Using a diffusion of innovation framework, the paper offers insights for law enforcement and policymakers on emerging AI-enabled cybercrime.
