Hehe, I have spent most of my work life (and indeed early teenage years) programming in assembly and considered C to be a “high level language”. If you jump straight into high level languages like Java or Python etc. then you’ll be an average programmer. However if you want to be a first class programmer, start with some really low level assembly and a healthy dose of C. Learn intimately how the machine works and you will write better code when you shift into things like object oriented code.
I wish they taught C at school when I started out learning to write code back in the 80’s. Would have saved me hours of frustration when teaching myself.
