<p>I think something like Mastodon/ActivityPub is more valuable as a middle-ground rather than scaling up to X/Meta- it’s a callback to the days long past of internet forums, except this time you get to link your forum to others.</p>
<p>I’ll debate there there’s no need to federate everywhere and anywhere- I think the real value that will come with fediverse is to treat it just like club houses, forums, personal communities- the indie web that we left behind when social platforms became the norm. It’s a good middle ground to those who don’t want to give up microblogging, but don’t need the full global network of a unified platform.</p>
