SandboxAQ has partnered with Anthropic to integrate its large quantitative models (LQMs) — physics-grounded AI models capable of quantum chemistry calculations and molecular simulations — directly into Claude. The move aims to lower the access barrier for drug discovery and materials science tools, allowing computational and research scientists at pharma companies to run complex simulations via natural language without needing their own computing infrastructure. SandboxAQ, an Alphabet spinout backed by over $950M and chaired by Eric Schmidt, argues the real bottleneck in AI-assisted drug discovery isn't model quality but usability.
