SABC Plus, South Africa's free online streaming platform, has reached two million registered users, doubling from one million since May 2025 at a rate of roughly 111,000 new registrations per month. Growth is driven by mobile-first younger audiences and a content mix of sports, documentaries, and telenovelas. Future engagement levers include gamification via SABC Connect and a Microsoft partnership for AI learning courses. The platform still trails rival eVOD (2.2 million users) but is growing faster. Both platforms are now shifting focus from user acquisition to monetisation.
