Anthropic has released Cowork, a research preview feature that extends Claude Code's agentic capabilities to non-coding tasks. Available for Claude Max subscribers on macOS, Cowork allows Claude to autonomously read, edit, and create files within designated folders, handling tasks like organizing downloads, creating spreadsheets from screenshots, or drafting reports. Built on the same foundation as Claude Code, it works with existing connectors and skills, enabling parallel task execution with minimal user intervention. Users maintain control through explicit folder permissions and action confirmations, though risks like prompt injections and potential file deletions require awareness and precautions.
