I think the example for KISS is a poor one, since the line just above example says about having more lines but the preferred example actually has lesser. I got the gist, but probably wording or example could be improved.

DRY is over used and has be come an anti pattern. It’s ok to repeat yourself. I definitely do not recommend implementing a premature abstraction like this article suggests. Generics should rarely ever be used. Requirements often change and if you abstract too early it effects your ability to update the code.

Applying DRY anywhere you can will add coupling in places it’s not necessarily desirable. “Single Source of Truth” is a better pattern in this regard.
