Rust for CPython project status update April 2026

Python.org offers developers a resources, tutorials, and documentation for mastering the Python programming language. Developers can explore Python syntax, language features, and standard libraries, as well as learn about Python application development, web development frameworks, and data science tools. Additionally, Python.org provides access to community forums, developer guides, and Python Enhancement Proposals (PEPs), facilitating collaboration and knowledge sharing within the Python community.

The Rust for CPython community shares a progress update on integrating Rust into CPython. The build system now successfully compiles CPython with Rust across all tested platforms in CI. The team has shifted the target from Python 3.15 to 3.16, giving more time to refine the implementation and discuss the upcoming PEP. The roadmap covers API design planning in April-May, PEP drafting in June, and PEP submission in July, with the goal of completing discussion before the 3.16 beta 1 in May 2027. Community contributions are welcome via Discord and weekly Monday meetings.
