Running iBGP Over WireGuard for DN42 and Beyond

A walkthrough of setting up iBGP over a dedicated WireGuard tunnel to propagate DN42 routes from a VPS to a home network. The post explains why Tailscale fails for this use case (it only forwards explicitly advertised subnets), then details the WireGuard /30 tunnel configuration with allowedIPsAsRoutes=false, Bird routing daemon config for both home router and VPS route reflector, firewall rules, and IPv6 next-hop handling. The result is automatic route propagation for both DN42 and arbitrary custom prefixes without manual static route management.
