Data from Newzoo's 2026 PC & Console Gaming Report reveals that Roblox and Minecraft players have very little overlap with traditional AAA game audiences. Roblox players are only 0.4x as likely to play titles like Monster Hunter Wilds compared to the average player. Both audiences do overlap significantly with top live-service games like Fortnite (55% overlap with Roblox), but largely avoid premium single-player AAA releases. Newzoo attributes this partly to younger players being time-rich but cash-poor, and notes that games resembling Roblox's style (Gang Beasts, Among Us) do attract these players. The key industry question is whether these younger players will eventually migrate to traditional AAA titles as they age, or permanently reshape the market toward free-to-play sandbox experiences.
