A vendor ID error for MIPS RISC-V was discovered in Linux 6.18 before its stable release. The incorrect ID (0x722 instead of 0x127) went undetected because MIPS used the same wrong ID in their QEMU testing environment. The issue has been fixed through a RISC-V pull request, and MIPS committed to testing on FPGA bitstreams going forward to prevent similar issues.
