A teardown and reverse-engineering of a cheap handheld car tire pressure gauge reveals a MEMS pressure sensor with a thin diaphragm and four piezoresistors, paired with an 8-bit MCU from Chinese manufacturer SDIC. The MCU integrates a clock oscillator and sigma-delta ADC, requiring minimal external components. Despite its simplicity and sub-$3 price point, the device is accurate enough for practical use.
