Legit question: if DEVIN and similar started putting devs out of a job would you start uploading garbage code to github/gitlab etc. to try to ‘poison the waterhole’? Would you still build/contribute to OS that is def going to get stolen for the express purpose of putting you out of a job?

I know it’s hard, but you have to look at it from a different perspective: No matter how good Devin or similar AIs are, do you seriously think that Devin users really understand what Devin produces? I don’t think so. Our role as developers will change. Definitely. But it’s up to us to make the best of it. There’s also the chance that AI will make them even more dependent on us, precisely because they don’t understand what all the code means. I also think that a developer working with Devin can achieve much better results than some wannabe developers who just quickly creates a website with Devin.

As much as it may hurt to be replaced, it wouldn’t sit well with me to fight back to keep a job I know can be automated.

I think that Devin would have filtering features to combat garbage code. But if it didn’t, I would seriously consider it.
Also, if you don’t contribute to OS, wouldn’t Devin fill that gap?
