Efforts to convince remote workers to return to corporate offices have stalled. Data shows a flatlined trend in working from home and office occupancy. Some large employers have implemented 'return to office' policies, but there is evidence that they may regret it. Remote work brings benefits for employers, including access to talent, reduced turnover, lower property costs, and greater productivity.

there will always be startups being hungry for people and will offer WFH to attract workers from RTO determined big techs. this will balance the force. honestly I would prefer WFH over whatever office perks.

I left a WFH job intentionally to work in person because I was a new programmer and thought I would benefit more by learning in person, which would allow me to more quickly do remote work in areas I am more passionate about in the future, as opposed to keeping the easier, ‘sexier’ job I currently had.
I am sure not all remote jobs stunt their devs growth in the way I had experienced but I could feel my learning had slowed down and that was confirmed after having been working in person for more than a year – I learned more in the first 6 months than I did in a year and a half at the other two jobs.
After more than I year, I can’t express how glad I am that I took this risk despite all these articles and talking heads proclaiming it was stupid / pointless to go ‘simp for a billionaire’ or whatever the overly-emotional and politically charged articles / posts were saying.
By no means is this a black and white issue, but so many articles try and paint it as one, with the side of WFH being the supposed gospel.
Being paid more, to learn more often and more efficiently, seemed like a no-brainer and it ended up being exactly what I hoped it would be.

As with most issues we’re all getting worked up about nowadays, the answer is more nuanced than just picking one team and that answer being right 100% of the time for all places and people.
