Anthropic has redesigned the Claude Code desktop app to support parallel agentic workflows. Key additions include a new sidebar for managing multiple concurrent sessions across repos, drag-and-drop workspace layout, an integrated terminal and file editor, a faster diff viewer, expanded preview support for HTML and PDFs, and SSH support extended to Mac. Three view modes (Verbose, Normal, Summary) let users control how much detail they see. The app now streams responses in real time and has parity with CLI plugins. Available to Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plan users and via the Claude API.

Redesigning Claude Code on desktop for parallel agents

I wonder who will be first to put a TRUE agentic harness/loop into the desktop experience? Anthropic or OpenAI? We need a Kalshi market for this.

This feels like a real shift in mental model — from “chat with an AI” to “orchestrate multiple agents in parallel.” The UI changes are just the surface; the deeper change is treating coding as a multi-threaded workflow instead of a linear one.

The introduction of parallel agentic workflows and multi-session management across repos is especially interesting. It mirrors how developers actually think and work, not just how tools have traditionally constrained them.
The drag-and-drop workspace + integrated terminal/editor combo hints at Claude moving closer to becoming a full development environment rather than just a coding assistant. If the real-time streaming and faster diff viewer are as smooth as they sound, this could significantly reduce context-switching friction.
