True LED displays (Micro LED) are emerging as premium TV technology, using individually addressable RGB LEDs instead of LCD panels with LED backlights. These emissive displays offer superior contrast, faster response times, better power efficiency, and longer lifespans than OLED alternatives. However, manufacturing challenges keep prices extremely high—Samsung's models range from $110,000 to $150,000. While OLED displays have dominated the emissive display market, they suffer from brightness degradation and burn-in issues that inorganic LED technology avoids. Cost remains the primary barrier to mainstream adoption.
