Project N.O.M.A.D. (Node for Offline Media, Archives, and Data) is an open-source, self-hosted offline knowledge server that bundles AI chat (Ollama + Qdrant RAG), offline Wikipedia via Kiwix, Khan Academy courses via Kolibri, offline maps via ProtoMaps, CyberChef data tools, and local note-taking into a single Docker-orchestrated system. It installs on any Debian-based OS with a single curl command and is accessible via browser at port 8080. Designed for zero internet dependency after setup, it has no built-in telemetry or authentication. Optimal use requires a GPU-backed machine with 32GB RAM and 250GB storage for running local LLMs, though a minimal install runs on modest hardware.
