<p>The free tier via Qwen Code makes it easy to test without committing anything. If you’re already using OpenRouter, even easier. The closed-weights limitation is real if you care about self-hosting, but for most people evaluating it as a coding assistant, that probably doesn’t matter much.</p>
<p>The 1M context window is the practical differentiator here — repo-level tasks that choke smaller context models become more tractable when you can load in a lot more code at once.</p>
