Qualcomm has released the QCC74x, a new wireless MCU series featuring WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and IEEE 802.15.4 support on a single-core 352 MHz RISC-V CPU with 484 kB SRAM. Positioned as a direct competitor to Espressif's ESP32 lineup, the top-tier QCC748M evaluation board is priced at $13 and includes 8 MB PSRAM and USB support. The SDK is hosted on Codelinaro with a FreeRTOS-based stack, though Bluetooth and Zigbee support are currently listed as unsupported. While the QCC74x is a notable upgrade over Qualcomm's older QCC730, Espressif's upcoming ESP32-S31 may match or exceed it on all key metrics.
