Łukasz Langa, the inaugural CPython Developer in Residence at the Python Software Foundation, is stepping down after nearly five years. During his tenure he contributed to major CPython milestones including the migration to GitHub Issues, automating the CLA process, introducing free threading, and replacing the interactive shell. The Developer in Residence program has grown from one to five full-time engineers. Łukasz is joining Meta's Python Language Foundation team and moving to Vancouver, while remaining active in the open-source Python community. Meta will continue sponsoring the role at least through mid-2027.
