Python remains the most popular programming language in the Tiobe index but has declined from 26.98% market share in July to 21.81% in February. The drop is attributed to specialized languages like R and Perl gaining ground. R has climbed from 15th to 8th place year-over-year, regaining momentum in data science, while Perl has surged from 27th to 11th, staging a comeback in scripting after years of decline.
