Python 3.15.0 alpha 5 has been released as the fifth of eight planned alpha releases. This corrects an accidental build issue from alpha 4. Major new features include PEP 799's statistical sampling profiler, UTF-8 as the default encoding (PEP 686), a new PyBytesWriter C API (PEP 782), and significant JIT compiler upgrades showing 3-4% performance improvements on x86-64 Linux and 7-8% on AArch64 macOS. The beta phase begins May 5, 2026, with the next alpha scheduled for March 10, 2026.
