GitHub now allows repository-level management of secret scanning push protection exemptions. Previously, these exemptions could only be configured at the organization or enterprise level via security configurations. Exemptions can be granted to specific roles, teams, and apps, and are evaluated at push time — exempt actors bypass push protection without generating bypass requests.
