A survey of 650+ senior enterprise cybersecurity leaders by the Purple Book Community and ArmorCode reveals a significant governance gap in AI adoption. While 90% of enterprises claim visibility into their AI footprint, 59% confirmed or suspected shadow AI in their environments. Additionally, 70% reported confirmed or suspected vulnerabilities from AI-generated code in production, and 73% said AI-assisted development is outpacing security review capacity. The findings highlight a disconnect between perceived AI governance confidence and actual security outcomes.
