Sony has rolled out an upgraded version of its PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaling technology to multiple PS5 Pro titles via a system software update. The improved PSSR refines the neural network for image reconstruction, delivering sharper visuals, reduced flickering and ghosting, and more stable motion in complex scenes. Games already receiving the update include Silent Hill f, Monster Hunter Wilds, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Alan Wake 2, and Control, with Crimson Desert and Cyberpunk 2077 confirmed to follow. An optional system-level setting also lets players enable enhanced PSSR quality on already-supported games without a dedicated patch. The technology functions similarly to DLSS and FSR, allowing developers to maintain high framerates while outputting higher-resolution visuals, including 4K at 60fps with ray tracing in some titles.
