Wow I don’t know what is more inflammatory: categorizing music or programming languages 🫨
Serious point though, there are popular languages and there are widespread languages.
A risk for newer developers is to jump on the bandwagon of the latest and coolest language, even if it doesn’t have widespread adoption. The same holds true for more experienced developers, often clinging to an aging development language because it is familiar.
Professionally, I think of development languages as tool box. Just because you use C# or Java daily it doesn’t mean it’s always the best tool for the job. Should you use Swift or Kotlin for a native app, probably. Working with LLMs, Python. And JavaScript/CSS still rules the web.

ive seen no evidence that “php sucks”, people just hate what is popular like java or c++.
