Google is restructuring its Programmable Search Engine offerings with a January 1, 2027 deadline. The Search Element will be limited to 50 domains maximum for site-specific search (free). Users needing more than 50 domains or full web search must transition to either Vertex AI Search or contact Google for a full web search solution. New engines created now must use the "Sites to search" feature, while existing engines can continue with current settings until the deadline. The Custom Search JSON API users also need to migrate to alternative solutions.
