Tuta, the privacy-focused email provider with over 10 million users, has launched Tuta Drive into closed beta — an end-to-end encrypted cloud storage service built on the TutaCrypt protocol, which combines classical and quantum-resistant algorithms. The project originated from a €1.5 million German government grant (PQDrive) and was developed in partnership with the University of Wuppertal. Hosted in Germany under GDPR, the service integrates directly into Tuta's existing mail and calendar ecosystem with a zero-knowledge architecture. Early access testing reveals a functional but incomplete UI: file uploads, moves, and deletions work well, but folder uploads, keyboard shortcuts, and search are missing in this beta.
