2022 I think was the best job market I’ve seen. I had two offers less than a month after putting out my resume. No coding challenges for either! Whew! I get a little choked up thinking about it.
Then it was a procession of awful: Elon bought Twitter and made layoffs cool with the FAANGs, and AI hype led to more layoffs.
I’m interviewing now and while it’s not terrible, coding challenges are definitely back in full force but everything is now remote. Even applying to local jobs, everyone I talk with is remote.
