GitHub is implementing post-quantum secure SSH key exchange algorithms to protect Git data against future quantum computer attacks. The new sntrup761x25519-sha512 algorithm combines post-quantum security with classical encryption methods. This change affects SSH access only, rolls out September 17, 2025, and requires OpenSSH 9.0+ for full support, though older clients will continue working with fallback algorithms.
