Podman is a Red Hat product designed to build, manage, and run containers with a Kubernetes-like approach. Docker is the standard containerization tool for almost a decade. The two technologies have fundamental differences but are also perfectly suited to work together. Podman is the default container engine in RedHat 8 and CentOS 8.

In my company we use podman since January when they decided to require a subscription for large business. We replaced Docker entirety and it is being smooth so far.

I’m planing on migrate all my docker stack for podman on my homelab, just need to know the best replaces for portainer and automatic backups, when I get that I definitely will do the move

I feel like podman is better than docker so far, but this is totally feeling, I wish there were some benchmarks to see numbers and decide 🤓
