Tommy at Oskitone has released Space Dice, an educational DIY electronics kit combining a vintage sci-fi sound generator and an electronic six-sided die. The design uses only three CMOS logic chips (CD4093, CD4040, CD4017) with no microcontroller, keeping component count minimal. Notable design choices include using unused gates on the CD4093 as a square wave amplifier, a lever mechanism for the activation button, and fastener-free assembly. The kit features an evolving schematic diagram in its assembly guide that fills out as each step is completed, making it genuinely educational. All design files are open source and available on GitHub.
