A developer pinged millions of random IP addresses from NYC and visualized global network latency on a world map. Key observations include surprisingly slow internet in Sweden, Ireland, and eastern Ukraine, while Russia shows fast response times. The methodology uses 50 nearest-neighbor averaging with outlier removal, the Annoy library (a Python approximate nearest-neighbor tool) for spatial smoothing, and Basemap for plotting. Source code is available on GitHub.
