Pick n Pay's online business remained profitable for a second consecutive year but its growth rate slowed to 32.7% year-on-year, down from 44.6% the prior year. The retailer's asap! platform, Mr D app presence, and PnP Groceries combined for 37.6% growth. Meanwhile, rival Checkers Sixty60 continues to dominate at scale, with 875 stores, ~10,000 drivers, R11.9-billion in six-month sales, and over 100 million cumulative orders compared to Pick n Pay's 620 stores and 2,500 drivers. Overall group performance was weak, with a headline loss of R386-million and trading profit down 4.2%.
