WordPress is retiring the "beta" label for PHP 8.x support across all versions. WordPress 6.9 and 7.0 now fully support PHP 8.5, 6.8+ fully supports PHP 8.4, and 6.4+ fully supports PHP 8.3. The label was originally used because WordPress is rarely run without plugins and themes, but since PHP 8.0 the 8.x series has shipped stable, incremental updates making compatibility work much easier. The change aims to encourage web hosts, developers, and users to adopt newer PHP versions more confidently. The minimum recommended PHP version remains 8.3, while the minimum supported version is 7.4 since WordPress 7.0.
