Ampere has released the Ampere Performance Toolkit (APT), an open-source suite of four specialized tools for porting, benchmarking, and optimizing software on AArch64 architecture. The toolkit includes: the Ampere Porting Advisor (APA) for migrating software to Arm64; the Ampere System Profiler (ASP) for OS-level workload characterization; the Ampere PMU Profiler (APP) for microarchitecture-level analysis using PMU events; and the Ampere Performance Kit for Benchmarking (APKB) for automated, repeatable performance testing across bare metal, virtualized, and cloud environments. The toolkit supports a disciplined methodology: establish consistent benchmarking, eliminate system bottlenecks, analyze application bottlenecks, and perform microarchitectural analysis.
