Nutanix has announced NKP Metal, an extension of its Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) that brings the Nutanix operating model to bare-metal infrastructure. Unlike traditional bare-metal Kubernetes deployments that require specialized teams and complex tooling, NKP Metal introduces a dual-native architecture where containers and VMs operate as first-class citizens under a unified management model. It integrates Nutanix AOS storage via a container storage interface or Cloud Native AOS, enabling consistent lifecycle management, networking, and enterprise data services on physical servers. The solution targets AI training workloads and edge environments requiring dense GPU infrastructure. NKP Metal is currently in early access for NKP PRO and ULT license holders, with general availability planned for the second half of 2026.
