Pearl Abyss has apologized for failing to disclose the use of generative AI tools during the production of Crimson Desert. The studio confirmed that 2D visual props created with AI tools during early production were unintentionally included in the final release. Pearl Abyss claims these assets were meant to be replaced before launch but were missed. The studio has pledged a comprehensive audit of all in-game assets and plans to replace affected content in upcoming patches. This follows similar incidents involving Ubisoft and 11 Bit Studios, where AI-generated placeholder assets also slipped into released games without disclosure.
