Asahi Linux developer Janne Grunau has sent nine patches to the Linux kernel mailing list providing initial Device Tree files for Apple M3 hardware. The patches enable booting Linux on M3 devices but offer only minimal functionality — kernel boot, initramfs, and serial console access. GPU bring-up and broader hardware support remain pending, meaning M3 Linux support is still months away from being useful for end users. Apple M4 and M5 support are also still in the queue, with M6 expected later in 2026.
