Panasonic has announced the Toughbook 56, a rugged modular laptop targeting mobile workers in public safety, utilities, and enterprise. It features Intel Core Ultra Series 2 (up to 16 cores), an 8GB discrete GPU with optional Intel Arc Graphics, Wi-Fi 7, 5G/4G with dual SIM, and up to three Ethernet ports including a 10Gbps option. It is the first rugged laptop to offer FIPS-encrypted drives via Panasonic's Toughbook Total Defense security stack. Pricing starts at $3,325 with availability in May, and it maintains backward compatibility with Toughbook 54/55 vehicle docks.
