Palantir has been helping the IRS Criminal Investigations office probe financial crimes since at least 2018, with the agency paying $130 million for its data analysis software. The Lead and Case Analytics platform aggregates data across federal agencies, mapping relationships and communications across millions of records. The extent of this partnership was previously unreported, though it was known Palantir was involved with IRS modernization efforts and DOGE's access to IRS records. The nonprofit watchdog American Oversight has sued the Trump administration for public records related to federal agencies' use of Palantir tools.
