A data analysis post exploring energy supply in Pacific island nations, focusing on two aspects: electricity generation sources and household cooking fuels. Using R with the owidapi package to access Our World in Data and the WHO Household Energy Database, the author visualizes how most Pacific islands are heavily dependent on diesel (oil) for electricity generation and petrochemical products (kerosene, LPG) for cooking. Full R code is provided for both charts, using ggplot2 with facet_wrap to compare countries. The analysis highlights the vulnerability of Pacific island nations to disruptions in petrochemical supply.
